Brief: Create bathroom amenities for an airport. Focus should be on creating a welcoming user experience for the various cultures found in transit.
We approached this challenge by researching the traditions of the camode across numerous cultures. To noone's surprise, we found little overlap and decided to set out on a new direction. Could we create objects with stories that would appeal to just about anyone? What archetypal experiences, particularly those found in nature, could we invoke in order to invent these objects? Peeing on a tree, walking through a forest, sitting on a stone, watching water drain into cracks in rocks. We diligently framed and styled these experinces for the everyday traveller.
Four designs resulted from this exploration: Pee-on-a-tree Urinal, Canopy Showerhead, Stone Toilet, and Terra Shower Plate
